About Sarah
Sarah was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a form of inflammatory bowel disease during her senior year of college in 2014. Sarah’s passion for nutrition didn’t begin there, however. As a young child Sarah was introduced to nutrition when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. This led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Rhode Island in 2011. After graduating college it was evident that dietary change would be an integral part of preventing flare ups and maintaining a good quality of life. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, though.
Years of research and trial and error eventually led Sarah to a whole foods, nutrient dense diet. With a strong passion for helping others with autoimmune issues, Sarah pursued additional training from the Nutritional Therapy Association and earned the title of Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2021. Additionally, Sarah received training as a Dietary Supplement Specialists (DSS) and as an Autoimmune Protocol Certified Coach in 2022. Armed with the knowledge, training, and a passion for serving individuals with digestive illness, Sarah opened The Nourished Gut in 2022.
When Sarah isn’t working with clients, she enjoys reading a good book, bingeing a great show, camping in the summer, and playing with her doggy nephew, Cooper.
